The cultural association Rodopis, in cooperation with the University of Urbino Carlo Bo, organises the 15th Ricerche a Confronto seminar series, focussing on Katabasis and other “infernal journeys” from the Classical World to Contemporary times: sources, contexts and Fortleben.
The seminars aim at promoting the meeting and dialogue among Post-Graduate students and researchers at the early stages of their career, who have different backgrounds and research interests. The seminars have a strong interdisciplinary approach; therefore, the proposed topic may be explored from a number of perspectives, including (but not limited to) philology and literature; anthropology; history; archaeology; history of art; semiotics; iconography. Papers can also focus on specific case-studies, documents, and material evidence.
The seminars will take place at the University of Urbino Carlo Bo on Wednesday March, 11th, 18th, 25th, and April 1st. Each meeting will feature two presentations of 30 minutes each, and a final discussion.
Postgraduate Students, PhDs, and early career Researchers are invited to submit an anonymous abstract of 200-250 words in pdf format (filename: first three words of the paper’s title), by February 2nd 2020. Abstracts must be sent to ricercheaconfronto2020@gmail.com (subject line: RAC 2020 abstract). Participants are requested to specify dates in which they will NOT be able to present their papers.
A committee chosen among the Association’s members will evaluate the proposals; selected speakers will be contacted by February 16th, 2020.
Depending on allocated funds, room and board expenses will be covered. Upon speakers’ request, the Association will provide an informal certificate of attendance.
